Original Medicare vs. Your Add-On Options

Original Medicare includes Part A (hospital) and Part B (medical). Most people add coverage to reduce out-of-pocket costs or include prescriptions. If you prefer one ID card and network-based care, Medicare Advantage may fit. If you want nationwide access to providers who accept Medicare, a Medicare supplement (Medigap) paired with Part D is worth a look.

Premiums, Copays, and Annual Limits in Oregon

Costs vary by plan type and county. With Original Medicare, you’ll see Part B premiums and coinsurance. Medicare Advantage plans often have low or $0 premiums but include copays and an annual out-of-pocket maximum. Medigap trades a higher premium for more predictable costs, and Part D plans differ by formulary and pharmacy choice. We’ll compare total annual costs based on your actual medications and visits.

When to Enroll or Make a Change

Most people enroll around their 65th birthday during the Initial Enrollment Period. The Annual Election Period (Oct 15–Dec 7) is when many review coverage for the year ahead. If you move, lose qualifying coverage, or have other life changes, you may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period. Still working with employer coverage? We’ll help you time Medicare so you avoid gaps and penalties.

Independent Guidance for Oregon Communities

We compare multiple carriers and explain tradeoffs in plain language. You’ll know how plans work in your county, what your total costs could look like, and how your doctors and prescriptions line up. From the West Hills and Sellwood in Portland to South Eugene, West Salem, North Albany, and neighborhoods near OSU in Corvallis, we’re here year-round to answer questions and adjust your coverage as needs change.

Learn, Compare, Decide with Confidence

Prefer to do your own research first? Explore plan types, coverage details, and county-level differences before we talk. We’ll show you how to compare options by your ZIP code, confirm networks and formularies, and prepare a short list for review. When you’re ready, we’ll handle the enrollment steps and keep a copy of your plan details for future check-ins.
